Quand Tu Regarderas Le Ciel

For SATB choir and piano.

Written shortly after my husband’s death, and dedicated to him, it borrows from the book ‘Le Petit Prince’, (‘The Little Prince’ by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry) an idea of how to cope with death by thinking of your lost one as living in the stars. The night sky has always been very precious to me, and continues to be. The work was first performed by 'La Chorale Internationale de Capestang' in 2016, and it reached the final of the UK Songwriting Contest in that year.

A basic translation of the lyrics

When you look at the night sky, I will be living in one of the stars. And I'll be laughing, and you will want to laugh with me. And so, it will seem as if all the stars are laughing. And those stars will laugh for you whenever you look at the night sky. And when you are consoled, you will be glad to have known me. You will always be my friend.
