I Wish You Many Things

The lyrics were written by Celia Micklefield, a friend and novelist. The original poem was written as a marriage gift but could be used to wish anyone all the things that make them happy.

When I was asked to write music for this poem, I initially thought it would be in a formal style. I couldn’t get it to work as I felt it needed something more uplifting and accessible. So, it emerged as this 'folk-like' song. The images I put with it are quite literal, as I feel they enhance the images these beautiful words describe.
