In Flanders Fields

I directed a choir in France for 14 years and for my last concert with them I wanted to write a song specifically for them. It was 2018, the centenary of the end of WWI. I have always loved John McCrae’s poem 'In Flanders Fields' so chose this for the lyrics. Since then I have set two other war poems to music, so 'In Flanders Fields"  now appears in a larger work 'Three War Poems'.

There is dissonance in the music depicting the horrors of war and the sadness of so many soldiers giving their lives for King and Country.
